This Prayer is recited just prior to the folding of the American flag and the playing of TAPS.
Recited by the Honor Guard Leader:
ANOTHER COMRADE HAS BEEN CALLED TO THE HIGH COMMAND. HE HAS GONE TO REPORT TO THE COMMANDER OF US ALL. THIS MOMENT IS SACRED WITH THE ALMOST VISIBLE PRESENCE OF THE ONE WHO HAS GONE BEFORE. WE COME TO HONOR THE MEMORY OF ONE WHO OFFERED HIS LIFE IN THE SERVICE OF HIS COUNTRY, WHO HAS NOW ENROLLED IN THAT GREAT SPIRIT ARMY WHOSE FOOTFALLS CAUSE NO SOUND. BUT IN THE MEMORY OF MAN, THEIR SOULS GO MARCHING ON, SUSTAINED BY THE PRIDE OF SERVICE IN TIME OF NATIONAL DANGER. BECAUSE OF THEM, OUR LIVES ARE FREE; BECAUSE OF THEM, THE WORLD IS BLESSED. MAY THE CEREMONIES OF TODAY DEEPEN OUR REVERENCE FOR OUR DEPARTED COMRADE.
Recited by the Honor Guard Chaplain:
ALMIGHTY GOD, INTO THE FESTIVITIES AND DELIBERATIONS OF OUR VETERAN FELLOWSHIP COMES THIS TENDER HOUR OF MEMORIAL, WHEN WE COULD GIVE A MOMENT OF AFFECTIONATE TRIBUTE TO THIS COMRADE WHO HAS PASSED AWAY, BUT WHO WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. HELP US OUR GOD, SO TO LIVE, THAT OUR LIVES, BY OUR DREAMS, BY OUR HOPES AND BY OUR DEEDS, WE MAY JUSTIFY HIS NOBLE SACRIFICE AND KEEP OUR COUNTRY STRONG. FOR ALL GOD LOVING PEOPLE EVERYWHERE, FOREVER FREE, IN THE NAME OF ALL HUMANITY. AMEN
